Jaguar has been at the forefront of aluminium car construction for more than a decade. The latest innovation is our high-strength Lightweight Aluminium Architecture, which is not only incredibly strong and reduces weight, it is also extremely stiff – underpinning XF's precise, agile handling. Aluminium has also been used to form the body sides, bonnet and front wings. These panels are bonded together with a super-strong adhesive, then punched with zinc-coated, boron steel rivets that compress the adhesive to form an airtight bond and a phenomenally strong, rigid structure. This cutting-edge process, coupled with the Lightweight Aluminium Architecture, makes XF among the lightest cars in its class. This weight saving goes a long way to reducing fuel consumption.
