Jaguar has been at the forefront of aluminium car construction for more than a decade. Our latest innovation is Lightweight Aluminium Architecture, which is significantly lighter, stronger and 28 percent stiffer than the structure used in XF's predecessor. Aluminium has also been used to form the body sides, bonnet and front wings of XF. Lightweight aluminium panels are bonded together with a super-strong adhesive, then punched with zinc-coated, boron steel rivets that compress the adhesive to form an airtight bond and a phenomenally strong, rigid structure. This cutting edge process, coupled with the Lightweight Aluminium Architecture, contributes towards weight savings of up to 190kg over the XF it replaces.
