Maintenance and Self - service
• High humidity and dust in the storage place will accelerate the self - discharge of battery.
Methods to Reduce Battery Self - discharge
• The positive and negative connections of the battery should not be loose.
• Keep battery surface clean.
• When it is not in use for a long time, remove the battery and place it in a dry environment with moderate temperature. • When the high voltage is not engaged, try not to use the electrical appliances in the vehicle for a long time.
Battery power loss
Battery power loss is mainly due to:
• Power consumption of non - stop electrical appliances, such as immobilizer alarms.
• Leakage caused by poor insulation performance of components on the vehicle.
• If the negative terminal is not unplugged, the static current and leakage current in the circuit will cause power loss. • Turn on the electrical appliances in the vehicle without high voltage power being turned on.
Battery Level Check
• Check with a discharge tester: Press the corresponding contacts firmly on the positive and negative poles of battery. When the discharge tester pointer is in the green range and remains so for about 2 seconds, it indicates that the battery has sufficient power to meet the starting requirements. When the discharge tester pointer is in the red range and there are no other abnormalities, it indicates that the battery level is low and the battery needs to be recharged. • Use head lamp for load and voltmeter check: Connect a voltmeter to the battery, read the voltage, then turn on head lamp. If the battery voltage remains above 11.5 volts and does not drop rapidly, it can be used normally after idling charging. If battery voltage drops rapidly after head lamp are turned on, the battery needs to be charged separately. If the battery has been idle for too long, the charging time should be relatively extended. It is best to perform multiple charge and discharge to fully activate it. • Note: Batteries that are being charged or discharged or have just been charged should not be checked using a discharge tester. Because a large amount of hydrogen and oxygen gas will be produced during the charging process, when a discharge detector or resistance wire is used for inspection, sparks will be generated and the gas will explode, causing injury to people and properties.
Steps for Replacing the Battery
Disassembly:
1. Remove the right side trunk decorative cover.
2. Remove battery ground wire from the negative battery post and disconnect it.
3. Remove the positive battery fuse box from the positive battery post.
